Norcuron discontinued Subscription
Merck Sharp & Dohme has discontinued Norcuron (vecuronium bromide) powder for solution for injection 10mg. Stocks are expected to be exhausted in the first half of 2016.
Benylin Four Flu Liquid discontinued Subscription
Johnson & Johnson has discontinued Benylin Four Flu Liquid 20ml (paracetamol, diphenhydramine hydrochloride, pseudoephedrine hydrochloride).
Discontinued oral contraceptives from Janssen Subscription
Janssen has taken the decision to discontinue the following oral contraceptive 3x21 strip packets: Trinovum (norethisteronen 0.5, 0.75 and 1.0mg and ethinylestradiol 0.035mg) will be discontinued at the end of January 2016; Ovysmen (norethisterone 0.5mg and ethinylestradiol 0.035mg) in April 2016, Binovum (norethisterone 0.5mg, 1.0mg and ethinylestradiol 0.035mg) in June 2016. This is not due to any safety concerns.
Ventmax discontinued Subscription
Ventmax (salbutamol; Chiesi) SR 4mg capsules are no longer in the supply chain and the expiry date of the last stock supplied was 30 November 2015. Ventmax SR 8mg capsules are also being discontinued.
Opdivo (nivolumab; Bristol-Myers Squibb) is now indicated for the treatment of locally advanced or metastatic squamous non-small cell lung cancer after prior chemotherapy in adults, according to the updated summary of product characteristics. Consequently, Nivolumab BMS (nivolumab; Bristol-Myers Squibb) will now be discontinued. Stock of Nivolumab BMS can be exhausted before switching to Opdivo.
Pulvinal discontinued Subscription
Chiesi has discontinued Pulvinal (beclometasone dipropionate) 100μg, 200μg and 400μg, and Pulvinal (salbutamol) 200μg dry powder inhalers in the UK. The company anticipates that Pulvinal (beclometasone dipropionate) 100μg, 200μg and 400μg will be unavailable by the end of 2015 while a limited supply of Pulvinal (salbutamol) will be available until the middle of January 2016. Losec injection and infusion discontinued Subscription

Lipostat discontinuation Subscription
Lipostat (pravastatin) 10mg, 20mg and 40mg tablets are being discontinued by Bristol-Myers Squibb from early November 2015. The decision has been made for commerical reasons and there are no safety or quality concerns with the tablets. Generic versions of pravastatin 10mg, 20mg, and 40mg are available in the UK.
Sustiva oral solution discontinued Subscription
Sustiva oral solution 30mg/ml (efavirenz), used to treat HIV infection, has been discontinued by Bristol Myers Squibb. The “capsule sprinkle” method has been upgraded to the primary dosing method for patients who cannot swallow pills. In addition, as a result of the Sustiva oral solution discontinuation, the paediatric indication for the Sustiva hard capsules and film coated tablets has been extended to include children from three months of age and weighing at least 3.5kg.
Voltarol discontinuations Subscription
Novartis is discontinuing several different Voltarol products (diclofenac), which will become unavailable once stock is exhausted. Products that are already out of stock are: Voltarol dispersible tablets 50mg (3x7 pack), Voltarol Retard 100mg (2x14 pack) and Voltarol SR 75mg (4x14 pack). It is estimated that Voltarol tablets 50mg (9x10 pack) will go out of stock in October 2016, Voltarol tablets 50mg (1x10 hospital pack) will go out of stock in January 2016, Voltarol SR 75mg (2x14 pack) ...
