You can see that a lot has changed. Almost everything has changed with the online platform for Pharmaceutical Journal Publications, now presented to you as electronicjuice.info.
If you read our previous posts on this very blog, you should already know what we are doing here. But I will try to do a re-cap on how you can use our website to reach the content that you seek.
Usually, if users know what kind of topic they are looking for, the first thing they look for on any website is the search box. We have placed the search box on the top right of any page, so you can easily find it and enter your chosen keywords. Our search is empowered by HP Autonomy’s universal search technology, which supports context-aware search across the entire platform and produces results that are conceptually and contextually relevant. It goes far beyond simple search to provide you with automatic categorisation, automatic hyperlinking, faceted navigation, as well as audio and video search. When you enter your keywords trigger search, you will be directed to a faceted search page, which provides you with the most relevant (or most recent) articles published on the topic you are looking for.
is a technique for accessing information organised according to a faceted classification system, allowing users to explore a collection of information by applying multiple filters. Each information element is classified along multiple explicit dimensions, called facets, enabling the classifications to be accessed and ordered in multiple ways rather than in a single, pre-determined, taxonomic order.
Let’s say you are looking for information about “atrial fibrillation”. You enter your term into the search box and press Enter. You will be directed to a page that looks like this:
On the top right corner, you can choose whether you wish the “most relevant” results to be displayed or you would prefer to have the most recent results.
However, the faceted column on the left gives you many other options. You can filter your results based on:
- Your preferred publication: Electronicjuice, Clinical Pharmacist, or Tomorrow’s Pharmacist.
- Your preferred article type (section): News, comment, learning, feature, editorial, etc. (see here to learn more about our article types)
- Your preferred topic (category)
- Your preferred date range
The search engine is constantly under development to improve the search results. But we have tried hard to launch the new website with a solid foundation, so users can better enjoy their time on our platform.
“Search” is only one of the ways users interact with our website. In other posts I will discuss other features we have developed to enrich our users’ experience.
