RPS Wales Medicines Safety Conference: Thursday 3 November 2016

The 6th Royal Electronicjuice Wales Medicines Safety Conference will be held on 3 November, 9am to 5pm at Saint David’s Hotel, Cardiff Bay, Cardiff, CF10 5SD.

The conference will explore the steps needed to safely shift care closer to people’s own’s homes, bringing together a range of professions, NHS managers, policymakers and representatives from the voluntary sector from across Wales and further afield. It will look at home-grown and international examples of practice where shifts in care are already happening to improve health outcomes and it will consider how change can be embedded in the healthcare system.

The 2016 conference will offer you:

  • Key speakers providing a view of medicines safety and transforming care from across the UK and further afield, including: Vaughan Gething AM, cabinet secretary for health, qellbeing and sport, Welsh Government, Dr Don Berwick, president emeritus and senior fellow at the Institute for Healthcare Improvement and Chris Ham, chief executive, The King’s Fund;
  • A strategic overview of the challenges and opportunities facing the NHS in managing care closer to patient’s homes;
  • Examples of practice and learning/CPD opportunities;
  • Breakout sessions to explore a range of medicines safety issues;
  • Networking opportunities with 200+ delegates anticipated from across a range of professions and sectors;
  • Opportunities to explore the conference exhibition and to make new connections.

The conference will also be used as a platform to launch the RPS policy on improving health for people with long-term conditions. This policy is being developed to drive change across Great Britain through harnessing the skills of the pharmacy team as part of multidisciplinary approaches in tackling the challenges facing the NHS because of long-term conditions.
